Bernadette

In 2016 Bernadette decided it was time to do something about developing fully accessible bathrooms in public spaces. Be Brave…is my motto and supports me to share my story.

The Problem

Thousands of people are forced to lie on toilet floors or in the back of cars in car parks to change incontinence products. This option is unjust, unsafe and undignified.

Through leadership and bravery, people living with impairment and their supporters are collaborating to create an accessible world to enhance the life and opportunities of others.

The Solution

Provide facilities in public spaces, much more than a disability toilet:

  • Large accessible toilet

  • Adult sized change tables

  • Shower and hoist

  • Wall mounted hand rails

  • Privacy screen

A space where people with complex disabilities can be changed in a space that is safe, clean and upholds their dignity.

Through leadership and bravery, people living with impairment and their supports are collaborating with leaders to create an accessible world to enhance the life and opportunities of others.
